Ahoy there,

I would like to further introduce myself to you, the reader, in order for you to know where exactly I came from and why I decided to start this little blog with some of my friends. As a child, I always enjoyed going on camping trips with my parents. Sleeping under the night sky, seeing the different kinds of animals (both harmless and dangerous) in their natural habitat, and of course, bonding with my mom and dad by the bonfire while roasting marshmallows. I know, that’s kind of a cliché thing but it sure was one of the best memories of my childhood.

Just a picture of the "old" me.

As I grew older I became a lot more adventurous. I did my first camping trip in Acadia National Park located in Maine. Bought my dogs with me there as well and I have to tell you, seeing them running free was just the perfect icing on the proverbial cake. It was an exhilarating experience and one that I hold a special place in my heart. Not only was it the first time I went camping on my own, it was also the moment that I truly started to respect nature. I went through dozens of outdoor expeditions after that.

Mother nature is both breathtakingly beautiful and dangerous. I believe that you should always show it respect. I learned just how dangerous it is firsthand during one of my routine camping trips in Capitol Reef National Park in Utah. I was going through the trail as I planned to watch the sunset that day but a little miscalculation on my footing left me tumbling down some rocks and spraining my ankle. Nothing too serious, thank god, but it was a bit of a long trek from the nearest camping ground.

The place was also almost devoid of any stick I can use as a makeshift crutch. After bandaging my injured ankle, I went through what was probably the longest hike in my life at that point. Arriving at the campsite I was quickly escorted to the nearest hospital, I think my ankle doubled in size by that point.

That little experience thought me to never half-ass it in the wilds. It was a painful experience but a learning experience nonetheless which I truly appreciated. Thinking back at that moment was what pushed me to create this blog along with my friends who all have gone through similar ordeals, some even more serious than what I went through.

We would like to help outdoor enthusiasts, both beginners and experienced campers, get the best and most up to date information available today in terms of camping and hunting gear as well as several important survival and safety tips. To help get our readers on the right path when it comes to outdoor activities, so to speak.

Well, as time went on I met and married the woman of my dreams who was also an avid outdoor camper such as myself. We now have three beautiful children of our own. Obviously, my days of pushing the envelope in terms of risky outdoor activities are now long gone. But that’s not to say that my family and I have stopped camping altogether. Far from it my friend.

Nowadays, I bring my family and our dogs along for the ride in our RV in a more family friendly routine. I and the missus would like to pass our knowledge to our children and they definitely have the chops for it. In fact, just recently we brought the kids to Sawtooth National Forest in Idaho. It was a lovely experience and something we hope our kids will cherish. That is actually another reason I have for starting this blog. It’s my way of sharing my experience as a father when it comes to planning a family friendly camping trip.

I truly believe that while camping outdoors in solitary has its merits, nothing beats talking and laughing around the bonfire with the one’s closest to you. There is something almost magical with being surrounded by nature with your loved ones, simply enjoying life without the distractions of modern technology or the hustle and bustle of the city.

In this regard, I would like to share my two cents in the matter. Answering questions such as the best quick and easy recipes for the outdoors, picking and maintenance of your RV, the best camping gear for the family as well as other fun activities that kids can enjoy.

My younger brother and my nephew enjoyed a beautiful night by the campfire.

In closing, I would like to welcome you all to our simple outdoors blog. Keep posted for all our updates concerning the best camping and hunting products as well as blog post that tackles some interesting subjects about the outdoors. This is the blog created out of our respect and love for nature and the memorable, life changing experiences it can offer. Stay safe, well-prepared and well-informed. Remember that knowledge is an indispensable tool in a camper’s arsenal and that is the goal we wish to share with all of our readers.

Happy trails, everyone!
